The old man there, which I think is the owner, is always putting up with a little show by pointing to a bunch of metal scraps as if your car had a disease inside or something - it really doesn't matter if they are from your own car or not. Everything was "horrendous" and if you're lucky, he's going to show you his "honesty" diploma hanged in his office. Well, there is only so much for his honesty when I realised going to another mechanic that he charged me way more than he was supposed to.

Note: I'm thinking several times before leaving a bad review, trying to differentiate between an isolated behaviour and a pattern. So here is why I'm leaving a bad review: I had no problem being invoiced with overpriced services, since I have better things to do with my life than running from one mechanic to another. I always paid John Hoare full amount of money right after the job was done, no questions asked.
The forth time though, the car broke immediately in exactly the same place where Hoare said he repaired it and claimed a new payment - although, before doing the repairs didn't prepared me with an estimate like he always did. He let me assume he's taking full responsibility of the damage. Not only he is negligent and defiant but also an agressive person. (Third time when he repaired the car, one of the wheel caps detached and, being hanged in a single plastic strip, revolved outside the car, scratching the paint.
Initially the wheel caps were kept in place by 2 strips but he didn't bother to put both back) Finally, this time, the car didn't pass the NCT test, which was an hour after I got the car out of his garage. I don't know if he's a good mechanic or not but he definitely lacks elementary diplomacy (at his age, over 50). I talked to a few people for the past 30 min and seems like here in Skerries there are quite a few outraged ex-customers of his. One of them suggested a lawsuit group action.
