I never had imagined I would look forward to visiting a Car Dealership. With Matt Slap Subaru, that all changed for us. Since this visit was to purchase our 3rd Vehicle there, I knew the day would be pleasant, and it was. Laura H. in Sales made us happy Customers for the 3rd straight time. Laura checks the box with everything in regards to selling you a Vehicle.

She is knowledgeable, friendly, listens to your needs and really makes the process less anxious and stressful. The knowledge of the Vehicles Laura sells is incredible! She is exactly to person you hope to run into at a Dealership. My Wife, Sister and Mother all have Subaru's now. Laura is a Friend to us now, a Friend we met selling us a Vehicle, now that saying something! I'm guessing Finance doesn't get mentioned much in reviews, however Greg who took care of our paperwork was absolutely on point.

This is our 2nd time going thru this process with Greg, just like the last time, it was smooth and not confusing at all. I had only a couple of questions after he was finished going over the details, Greg knows his work well and I was in and out quickly thanks to his preparation. When I left his Office, I knew exactly what I signed and what to expect next.

The next part in our purchase was going over the Vehicle with Ashley. She knew the Vehicle so well inside and out, you would think she built it! Ashley was ready to go over all of the components of the Vehicle for me. I did have some questions, even though I have Subaru's now. Ashley had me connected to the vehicle before I left the Dealership, she is extremely helpful and you will know the Vehicle well after she is done going over it with you.

Before I finish, I would like to mention the wonderful Service Department too. We have been taking our Vehicles there for service for years now. Service is just another part of the awesome Matt Slap Subaru experience. The service is way above what I expected, they are very friendly too, welcoming and they get your Vehicle in and out. They fixed my car once even when it was out of warranty for no fee.

The prices charged for service is below what I thought a Dealership would charge too, another plus. Lastly, the time and effort I made for this review is out of the ordinary for me. The reason I did it, is because the Matt Slap Dealership is deserving of it from me. When you have an over the top experience every time you walk thru their doors, by everyone you see inside their doors, you want to give back to them in some way. This is how I say thank you to this group of people who I am thankful for. This Matt Slap Dealership will be the one that I will get my next car from too.

I had come to Matt Slap over 10 years ago for my Forester, and when I needed to look for a new vehicle Nicholas and the Matt Slap team made the buying experience less stressful, especially during this time of limited stock when hunting for cars. Nick kept in touch about vehicle updates and arrivals. He answered my questions and made sure everything was ready when final decision was made. It was wonderful to also know that I can expect a car wash after car services! Thanks to Nicholas and the rest of the Matt Slap team for still providing wonderful service.

Matt Slap Subaru service was wonderful! We were traveling on the interstate when our forester began making loud noises and vibrating. We brought the car into Matt Slap service as an emergency without an appointment. Gratefully, the service department checked our car in reasonable time. Cecil told us what was wrong, that they would need a few hours to fix it, and what it would cost very politely and very efficiently. Ron shuttled us to a restaurant so we could eat.

The repairs were explained thoroughly and finished in the time quoted. The service department was clean, people were polite and we were made comfortable. Many thanks and Gods blessings to this Service team!

My husband and I have been purchasing vehicles for almost 50 yrs. we have never had such a positive experience as we had at Matt Spat dealership. We were greeted as soon as we came in and brought to Jay. He was extremely polite and knowledgeable. We let him know we were just looking. He didn't mind and still gave us his full attention. We took an Outback for a drive.

We loved it. When we returned we sat down with Jay to check prices and see what our trade in would be worth. The next thing we were picking out colors and they were checking to see if they could make a trade. There was never any pressure which we often got from dealerships in North Jersey. We also loved the fact that we were not hooked into a price over MSRP like dealerships down the road we're doing. When we went to see Chris in finance Department, we were again pleased with his no-pressure personality. THANK YOU EVERYONE. We love our new Outback

We are careful consumers and we've literally been looking for a new car for a year.we decided on the Subaru Outback and even though we had to wait 5 months to get this beauty through special order, it was well worth the wait. Its everything we wanted and more in terms of safety, features and comfort. Our salesperson, Jay Brown, was phenomenal during all aspects of the sales process (and beyond) and would be our first choice to recommend to others as a hardworking, honest guy who cares about his customers.

His tutorial on the car was so incredibly organized and detailed and he seems to really enjoy taking care of people. Will add more to this review in the future as we are new to the Matt Slap Subaru family!

Just purchased a car on Dec 2021 and got a call for license plate pickup, I went in and got license plates and the lady's name was Ashley who asked do you have a car here? I say yes, she came out and put license plate and took the license frame out. I realized later that no license plate frame and called her back, she said only give the frame to temporary license plate not permanent license. What a weird policy.

A disappointing service experience. I still need and desire social distancing but the dealership insisted that customers enter the building to check in. However the valet agreed to notify the desk that my car had arrived. Picking up the car was better after I explained I wanted zero contact. However, when I got home, I found that the oil light had not been reset, even though my ticket said that it was. Also, my ticket read "Customer requests tire rotation".

I don't recall requesting this and I had driven less than 2000 miles since the last tire rotation. In order to correct the oil light mistake, I was asked to schedule a new appointment. Once again, the service desk wanted me inside and I declined. This caused them some confusion and the car was not ready as soon as I expected. Later that day, I got a phone call asking why I hadn't shown up for my appointment. It seems that different parts of the service department did not communicate.

This is our first time buying a car from Matt Slap but man did they make it so easy, no pressure, and really went the extra mile in anyway they could. Mark (Our salesman) is an absolute sweetheart, you can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and cares about his customers. He was honest and straight forward about everything, and made the annoying process that is buying a car out of state as easy as possible. As for the more general things, the store is clean and very well taken care of. If you want to buy a Subaru, this is the place to go regardless of if you're in DE or MD.

GO HERE! I bought my first Subaru because of my excellent experience at Matt Slap Subaru! The salesperson Christi was very attentive and helped me find a vehicle that was in my budget AND exceeded all my expectations! Huge difference in customer service here at Matt Slap Subaru-compared to other dealerships in the area. Highly recommend! Thanks!

I was recommended Matt Slap Subaru by several friends.couldn't have been a better decision. Everyone was very nice and accommodating and answered all my questions. Mike who I bought the car from was very helpful, easy to talk to and not a "in your face" type of person. I absolutely love my new Outback and will definitely be getting any future Subaru's from Mike and Matt Slaps along with being the person that recommends to my friends too!

We had a first rate, top notch experience at Matt Slap Subaru. Every step of the way - from our first contact with Siani who then put us in contact with our salesperson Collin. We went on to work with Chris our finance guy who turned us over to Ashley our car technology expert and finished up with Greg for our final additional transaction. Everyone was professional, efficient, courteous and friendly. We will definitely refer our family and friends to Matt Slap Subaru!

Purchased our second Subaru from them in August and pretty much did it all over the phone and had to go in person just to sign the paperwork. Got a good deal all things considered with the chip shortage and pandemic and everything was straight forward and smooth. Recently took our other Subaru for service. Was in an out in 1hr 20min and got a free car wash. No bs with service and car was ready when they said. Can't ask for more.

My poor husband bought a pre-owned 2018 outback from this dealership that had wheels out of alignment. This caused unnecessary wear and tear on the tires and needed to be fixed. This was discovered at an out-of state dealership-- apparently the warranty for certified pre-owneds is only honored at the dealership you buy from, not subaru as a whole, so he had to bring the car back to Delaware to have this fixed.

Unfortunately when he came for his appointment, someone took the keys and the VIN number down and he left the car for him. He leaves the dealership and doesn't get a call for hours, he returns an hour before closing and apparently because he didn't walk in and talk to a service representative they did not work on the car. In my humble opinion if you take someone's key's and their car you should verbally direct them to the next person they need to talk to, or give them a call when you have the car and no service is being done! It's just courtesy.

Upon leaving my husband tells me that the guy who works there says this happens all the time. To customers, make sure you go inside when they take your car for your scheduled appointment, don't assume you're ok because they took your keys. Matt Slap--- if this is happening all the time, change your protocol or be better about directing your customers where to go when they come for service. ***** Dealership did provide him with a loaner car (with an empty tank of gas, smells of cigarettes) and has offered to do the car on next available business day.

My Daughter goes to school near by, twice her car was brought in for service. They took care of the problems and were very reasonably priced and getting an appointment was easy. Being from out of state its comforting to know that this is not a stealership but true professionals, they care about customers and treat them right. Thank you to the staff there.

I wish i could leave 0 stars. This is absolutely the worst experience getting car maintenance done that I have ever had. I came from out of state, so I wasn't able to go to my favorite mechanic for my routine oil change. I took my car in the morning and was told the oil change would take an hour or two. After 4 hours of not hearing anything, I called back asking if they were finished.

The woman said it would be another 15 minutes so I got a ride back down to the dealership. I called again 30 minutes later since I hadn't heard, and I was told my car was completely taken apart in the shop and all the mechanics had left for the day! I asked why my car was taken apart and they said it was because I needed a new catalytic converter. WHICH I HAD NEVER AsKED FOR!

I came in for an oil change! I even called my mechanic back home to ask about the catalytic converter and he said that i definitely did not need a new cat, and under pretty much no circumstances would anybody need emergency catalytic converter replacement. I went back to pick up my car first thing in the morining. Sure enough, I arrived and parts had been taken out of my car.

I don't know a lot about cars but it didn't look like any typical oil change. They offered to run a diagnostic on the computer to "prove" that I needed a new cat, and in my frustration I took the bait. They tried to charge me for an oil change and a diagnostic. I am just glad I got my car back and it runs. PLEASE be smart and take your business elsewhere.

This is the best experience I've ever had at a dealership. I did thorough research on the vehicle I wanted and this is truly *no haggle pricing*. Michael Donnelly is a master at finding you the best car to meet your needs with the best payment plan. This was a low pressure experience and everything went so smoothly, I was in and out within 2 hours with my dream car, a reasonable monthly payment, and the lowest interest rate I'll probably ever see. Thanks Mike!

Took our 2015 Forester in for another recall (rear coil springs) while there had them diagnose a usb/12 volt outlet issue and rotate tires. They determined that a fuse was blown and replaced that, they didn't charge which was nice. However, this was NOT the problem, the problem is worse than ever now, whenever something gets plugged into the USB a loud pop is heard and now the dash and radio go out and don't come back until the car is shut off and restarted after a few minutes.

The tires never got rotated, they charged for this. I know they weren't rotated because there is one different tire on the car and it's still in the same location. Will never deal with this place again, will go to independent shops from now on if I can't fix it myself. Oh and they wanted $540 to put rear brakes on the car, and $300+ for spark plugs, that is insane pricing. Oh and $50 for an air filter which is available many places for under $10

The infamous head gasket problem has had me swear off Subaru, unless / until they include a lifetime (time and mileage) head gasket warranty. I had an 03 Baja, great little car. But, the head gasket on one side failed, and I got it replaced, under warranty. 5 years later, the other side failed. What service SHOULD do, is replace the side that failed, which is what they do if warranty is paying for the repair.

What they ACTUALLY do, is replace both sides, once it's on the customer's nickel. Doubled the cost of the repair, and convinced me it was time to sell the car. Overall they are a decent enough place, but that ripoff for over $3000 was simply inexcusable! As mentioned, lifetime warranty on head gaskets or whole engine, is the only way I will look at a Subaru again.

Nice car, but that's a giant bear trap waiting for the owner, and one that crops up again every few model years. It's been a problem for 30-40 years now, and it keeps coming back.

Have a 2015 Forester. Was having an issue with a metallic sound coming from under the engine bay. Took it to Matt Slap and they assured me the problem was front brakes. Since the car had 60,000 miles on it, brakes seemed reasonable and probably needed done anyway. Driving it home the car makes the exact same noise it did previous. Fast forward a couple of months and now the car is making a God awful sound.

Contact another dealer and on the phone was told exactly what it was, bring the car in and $75 later whola no more noise. Also, asked for a tire rotation which was never done. Attn: Matt Slap if someone brings another car in for a noise like this, check the exhaust hanger.

I get it. I had an unexpected trip and my previously planned oil change in 4 weeks came due 700 miles away from home. I handled my business in Newark and tried to get my oil changed inside my interval. After having 2/3 employees in service act as if I were invisible (the third was one the phone fussing about a coworker, really just whining and throwing a small tantrum), they told me it was too close to closing and maybe I should try Pep Boys.

I hope there isnt one, but the next time yall make that suggestion, point the customer to the parts department for genuine filters and washers (you know, warranties). Three stars for the poor guy whose sole job was to open doors for me.

This place is a lifesaver! I came in for an oil change and ended up getting new breaks and pads; it could have been a lot worse if I didn't get those fixed. Everyone was extremely professional and seemed like they actually love their jobs. I recommend this place to everyone I know!

We had roof rails replaced due to damage and noticed a couple weeks later the inside of our door well was completely dented. Too late to complain. I'm sure the mechanic knew he dropped a power tool and damaged the 2018 crosstrek but decided to be a dirtbag and not mention it. Some of the staff is nice though, guess they have to be when their mechanics are clumsy and below par.

Can I give 0 stars? It's always something! Waited 2 plus hours to patch a tire then they say I need to buy new rotors cuse my break pads went through. I have taken my car there several times for oil change and multipoint inspection too keep my car running properly and all of the sudden the break pads wear though! Why did you not tell me this earlier?

I will never bring my business to Matt Slap again! I suggest you do the same, Subaru's are awesome and this place has three of five stars? It's because they do not care about the customer!

We have purchased 4 new Subarus from Matt Slap Subaru, but never again. My wife and I visited the showroom to evaluate the new Forester, while we liked the new Forester (purchased a Forester Touring from Concordville Subaru), Matt Slap sales people displayed total indifference. We were told that the car we wanted wasn't available anywhere in the area and either buy what they had in stock or do without.

We checked the internet and found multiple dealers with the car we wanted and purchased from Concordville Subaru. The Matt Slap salesperson had a horrible attitude, if you don't want the car we have in stock, tuff we will sell it to someone else and they aren't interested in "finding" what we wanted.

I'm not happy with the service department. They present the customers in the waiting room with a filter (with 1/2 inch of dirt, lint, pine needles, seeds etc) and claim it is the cabin filter from their car which needs replacement. My husband had his 7,500 mile Outback service on his brand new car, and they presented him with the same filthy filter.

Last time I was there, customers were talking about the filter scam and just waiting for the technician to bring it out. Sure enough, the service tech brought it out for all of us to see. What a joke! Also, they told me that my tires were dry rotted and needed to be replaced. I reminded them that I bought the tires at Matt Slapp less than 15,000 miles ago. Whoops! I spoke to Eva Slapp, and I have no confidence that any changes will be made.

We agreed on a price two weeks ago on a used Outback. The car needed some work but we agreed on a price. They refused to take money down on s used car. Today the price jumped over $2,000 and the car had NOT been taken off the market! Even though we had been assured over the last two weeks the car was ours. Tonight they sold the car to someone else before telling us the price had been raised! Do not use this dealer!

I went in to MattSlap after going to two other subaru dealerships. I was warmly greeted by Mark Lloyd. He said " you seems like you're on a mission, can I help you with anything?" We went over to the 2017 outbacks talked about features, my price range and trade. We then went in. He told me what they would give me for my trade-in. Once I was happy with the trade in Mark said " lets test drive one!" So we went on a test drive and talked more about the cars feature and other non-car sales related conversation.

I felt like he was just an average guy not trying to pressure me into anything. After the test drive was over Mark took me in and we started negotiating. I went in to financing with Tom Windett. He was great. He turned his computer screen so I could see and he went over everything. He said call if you need anything, i am hear to answer you questions.

The process from start to finish took about 3.5 hours. He was so accommodating and offered drinks, snacks etc. Mark even offered to help me clean out my old car. The best part was the thorough run down of the vehicle. After all was said and done and I bought the car. He helped me sync my phone to the car. We went over the radio, Seats, Pretty much everything I could need and that took about 45 minutes.

He was so helpful, kind and responsive. Once we were all said and done; he sincerely thanked me for buying a car. And said " call me if you need me. You are never wasting my time." I am 28-years-old, this was not my first time buying a car. I was treated like an adult which was a plus, and doesn't always happen. I would recommend Matt Slap, and Mark Llyod to anyone who wants a great deal, car & a great experience.

I bought a Subaru Impreza new back in 2009 from this dealership. When you walk into the sales department be advised you are probably going to get at least 3 different salesmen coming up to you or hovering around you during your visit. Also it seems like no employees stay at this location for very long. My last visit for an oil change a couple weeks ago, there was not one person that I saw that was there when I was around just a year ago.

As I was waiting for the service department to finish with my car, I walked around the sales floor (to take pictures for yelp) and seriously 3 different guys came up to me asking if I was looking for a car. They really come off as desperate. Also, I've taken my car here for service since I bought it. As I've sat in the waiting room over the years, I've seen a couple different secretaries at the door get hit on by the mechanics dropping off keys; like it happens all the time.

Also they used to have a fowl mouth blonde female at the service desk, behind the waiting room, and I don't think they ever realized that you can hear their every word from the waiting room. The reason I'm finally leaving this review is because my mom bought her car from the same dealership, years ago. She went there yesterday to get them to replace a headlight bulb (charged her $40!) and they called today to ask how her recent visit was.

Well I used that as a chance to inform them that I was in an accident last week with my car and it was totaled. She didn't ask if I was okay or anything. She said that she would update the file. About 5 hours later, I get a call from a sales guy from Matt Slap trying to sell me another car! He never even asked if I was okay before going into his sales pitch.

So I called later and left a message for the sales department manager about their practices and told them I would never buy another car from them because their sales guys are like vultures.

I felt Mattslap's options of cars and sales people were pleasant, and prices reasonable. However I have had serious issues with the repair, and keeping to their side of the deal in repairing portions of the car that were specifically agreed upon as part of the contract in buying the car (a used car). I had a greater distaste with future repairs. The prices were always excessively high and I had many cases where they tried very diligently to recommend repairs that did not meet the needs of my car.

Here are the examples to support this opinion.

First, I asked to have the driver window's rubber seal replaced, as the car I bought had signs of a previous break in attempt, and the rubber was obviously inhibiting the raising of the window, to the point where it would get stuck and not go down or up at times. I went there 3 times to have them repair it, and each time they tried spraying a silicon spray which within 30 seconds went back to doing nothing. (this being a fix we agreed upon on contract as part of our sale as the car would not pass inspection without that working).

Second, when the car reached a certain amount of mileage, they STRONGLY recommended some things being replaced as preventative maintenance.

The prices were very high, and I asked if it mattered that I had replaced the engine (through them) a year prior with an engine having about half the miles. They were unable to give me the specifics of the mileage on the engine they put in my car, nor would they be upfront about whether the parts they wanted to replace had already been replaced with the earlier work they had done a year before.

I finally had to get someone else to call and ask more "engineer oriented" questions before they finally admitted that the $600 and $400 worth of work they were recommending was not necessary for another 3 years of mileage. A separate incident was in replacing a knock sensor. The check engine light was on for it, and they quoted the price for repairs, coming up to roughly $350.

I spoke with a family member about the difficulty of replacing this part, and he said it depended upon how the car was arranged, it can either be hard to get to, or very easy. As this is a Subaru dealership, and the car I was getting work on was a Subaru, I felt they should have a familiarity with the difficulty of replacing this part on this model.

I also felt they should have the integrity to price the repairs appropriately. Finally I looked into it, bought the part for about $50 and replaced it myself within 15 minutes with a wrench. It was extremely frustrating that their 15 minutes of labor was worth $300, and knowing that now for 2 cases had I gone with their recommendations/prices for repairs, I would have been seriously swindled out of my money.

In closing, I enjoyed the Subaru car itself, I felt the cars were well priced, and I felt the staff for the selling of cars were always pleasant to deal with. I eventually sold the car as I was frustrated with the shop side of things, and did not look forward to needing to fix things without being able to trust them, nor wanting to go with other places that may be less familiar with the car being worked on.
