I live in this neighborhood and I brought my Volvo here for a simple service, to replace an alternator V-belt that broke when I was nearby. When I talked to the mechanic, he said they "don't do exotics." This is a Volvo, it is literally is as sophisticated as a lawn tractor. From their website, "We specialize in high quality domestic and import automobiles as well as their service." I guess that doesn't include cars that are Swedish.
When I insisted the repair was small, a $9 part from NAPA or AutoZone, he said they wouldn't be able to find parts for my car. Not true, this is a commonly available belt. stocked at any auto part store, adjustable with a single 16mm bolt at the alternator. The broken belt did knock off the expansion tank breather tube for the cooling system, however it was easily reset without tools as it was not perforated or lacerated by the old belt.
With the breather tube in place, fitting and tensioning a new belt would take maybe 20 minutes of shop time, add 5 minutes to top off any coolant that was lost using a conventional formula like Prestone or Peak (1 hour billable). At the time I visited, they were servicing two Mercedes-Benz S Class W220 sedans with the M113 V8, which are not the most economical or easy to repair car, especially when compared to a four cylinder Volvo.
For the record, I am also a proud Mercedes-Benz owner; I have done everything from full transmission servicing to engine building and replacement on my own. Complex wiring, vacuum systems, carburetor rebuilds, you name it. I've worked on everything from BMW to GMC commercial trucks, so I genuinely understand automotive repairs; much more than your average customer.
This was a straightforward job that a tech at Jiffy Lube could do; that said, I was more than willing to pay shop rates for such a simple repair if it meant I didn't have to call a tow truck. As a neighbor of this shop, I was terribly disappointed to be blown off in the way I was, especially by a place so close to home. If they were busy, I would have accepted that as an answer, but the made up story about a Volvo being an exotic, or a V belt being hard to find was whack.
Especially if you work on money-pit W220 Benzes with factory air suspension. I may look dumb with my beard and curly hair, but I'm not stupid. One star because they let me wait with my car for the tow truck to arrive.

Did not have a good experience here, I came in to have a simple break pad service done, and the serviceman just took my keys in a demanding manner. He went to my car and told me my whole breaking system had to be done and that the only way to replace break pads is if you do the rotors, break pads, and caliper, pretty much the whole breaking system for all 4 tires, which is simply not true.
I made it very clear that I just wanted the break pads replaced, he insisted that if you go anywhere it's going to be the same thing and that you can't just change one part of the breaks out, So instead of being scammed the few hundred dollars they wanted and making my purchase here I took my business elsewhere, I will not be returning.

I prepared myself for the "used car salesman" experience. What I got instead was Sadi, a down to earth, friendly guy who wanted nothing more than to help me. Yes, he made money off of my sale, but I didn't walk away feeling like he just wanted to sell a car. When I pointed out a couple issues I found with the car, he told me no problem, he'd have them taken care of. The car was ready to go quickly and I'm now the owner of a brand-spankin-used car that I'm very happy with. Thank you very much Sadi, I appreciate your help. -Mark
