I had a good experience buying my car! But I got a oil change done recently, I went home and they didn't screw in my undercarriage protector. At first I thought something hit me but the protector dropped and looked like some screws were ripped out. I went back to fix it, they said I ran over something and that it would cost me $500 to replace it. I got a second opinion from Miller Tire, they popped it and screwed it back in for free.

If i could give zero stars I would! went into look for a vehicle on 05/03/2022 looked at a 2017 Hyundai Sonata, really liked the vehicle was priced very good and it had pretty much everything I needed and wanted, after letting the sales guy know about my special situation, he went to let his manager know about the situation went into the dealership and waited a couple minutes for him to come out and give me the nastiest attitude I have ever encountered like he was doing me a favor or something per the sales guy he let his manager know everything I had told him, I told the manager to just forget about it and left the dealership and went over to Gates Ford where they tried to help me get the 2017 Sonata I was looking at, my sales person called over to Gates Hyundai and they said they were closing a deal on it apparently but I had just literally been in the car less than 30 minutes ago and refused to give Gates Ford the vehicle, ended up looking at a 2019 Honda Civic and test drove it, on my way back to the Gates Ford I passed by Gates Hyundai too see if they really were closing a deal on it the vehicle was parked exactly where I had gotten it from less than a hour ago and there was nobody else in the building besides a family that was there when we had first arrived. point being is if that's how Gates Hyundai likes to conduct business than I'll make sure too let anybody I know too not ever go there and to anybody that is reading this on google reviews avoid this dealership at all cost. Head on over to Gates Ford and ask for Brandon, very patient and worked with us very well through the whole process! Thanks Brandon!

Mike Vescio lied to my face about how much they were going to give me on trade in. He scribbled some stuff down, I signed, then when the final paperwork came and the numbers were different, he and a manager magically couldn't find the paper I signed but they claim it was my fault that I was just confused. Liars. That moment soured me on this place, but I needed the car.
Now we're three weeks later and this dealership has NOT paid off my trade-in: Yes, I'm still making payments on a car THEY have! Pure incompetence. Edit: 4 weeks later and it is paid off. Avoid at all costs.

Very poor experience with Gates Hyundai service and with Hyundai warranty. Have bought several vehicles from the Gates group but I am no longer a customer. Gates and Hyundai refuse to fix a problem with my car, the service manager was rude and walked away mid-conversation, the GM would only repeat what the service dept found and did nothing extra to assist and the Hyundai warranty is useless. Stay away from this dealer and the Hyundai brand. Reliability is terrible.

I could not have been more satisfied with the overall customer service and the communication of Gates Hyundai. Holy holy HELL. Unable to find the car 5 feet in front of their garage. Lost my keys and several other peoples. Continually tried to cast blame on the towing company and myself for misplacing the keys and being unable to find the car (which they had down under someone elses name). And I'm almost certain I was charged for a recall to top it all off. This is a longer story than I am willing to type here but do yourself a favor, just tow it anywhere else.

Gates Hyundai is AMAZING! We had a great experience from phone call to picking up our new car! Brandon and the whole team is top notch! We wanted a Santa Cruz and they had the exact model that we wanted so we drove 3.5 hours to pick it up. The whole experience was seamless. We highly recommend them.

The people are great when it comes to buying your car. But when it comes to helping fix it it is a nightmare. I got a new engine 3 months ago. They had it for 9 weeks. After 3 months of having it now it is having another issue and no one seems to know how to help other than fixing it. The parts are no where to be found and they have NO loaner cars, which I was told at first one wouldn't be given to me because ky warranty didn't cover it even though had they done it right in the 9 weeks they had it, I wouldn't be in the position I am right now with NO car.
After struggling for 7 weeks last time, they finally gave me a loaner the last 2 or 3 weeks of it all. Now we are at yet another situation where they can't help. This is completely aggravating and disappointing from Gates. I have been with them 7 years and this has been the worst yet. No big issues have happened in the past. My car is a 2014 with 41,000 miles and it shouldn't be where it is now.
It has been well maintained and cared for. Before you buy, just know they are great but thats their job when selling. But when it comes to fixing things later on down the road, good luck.

This was our first time purchasing a car out of State. We have two Huyndai dealerships near our home. One is approximately a 15 minute drive, and the other abour 40 minutes. The one we have purchased 2 other Huyndai's off of. We attempted to stay local and purchase our vehicle from the one we had dealings in the past, but they did not want to try and attempt to get where we needed as far as payment goes.
The other dealership was way off as well. My husband went online and tried to find my Sonata and found one that met all our needs at Gates. It wasn't too long after he submitted his online requets, that he was contacted by Zach. Not only did Zach contact my husband quickly, he also made up a video so he could see the car first hand, since there were not any pictures online of the vehicle (it had just arrived on the truck).
They had sent us one deal, and even though it was not where I needed to be, we made the 3 hour drive to see the car and attempt to work something out. After we drove the car, they presented the same deal to us. We told Zach, that we had to be a X amount, and that just wasn't going to work for us. We thanked him for all his time, but we were going to have to pass. Zach went back to his Boss, and they made it happen.
We were escatic! They made it quick and easy. Everyone was super friendly and valued our time. While we were waiting on them to type up our paperwork, another employee took me out and showed me all the features of my car and how to link my phone with the car. I really appreciated this, because most dealerships wait until you are about to leave. So the used our down time to go over the car.
This meant a lot to us, especially since we had a 3 hour drive ahead of us. The only complaint I have, is with the person in charge of finance. We had first told Zach that we were going to go through our Credit Union, and then had decided to use Huyndai finance. We told him that we had been approved and was fowarding the info over to him. However, the finace person ran our credit again through Huydnai (even though we already had approval), AND through 4 other banks.
I have worked hard to try and raise my credit score, and did not give them permission to do so. I am pretty sure they are suppose to ask before running your credit through every bank or finance company they deal with. This I did NOT appreciate for one minute, and the dings on my credit score. So, I would make sure you stress this to them, prior to giving them any information. However, given all the other aspects, if/when I need another Huyndai I would reach out to them to work out a deal.
I apprecite their work in getting me to the place I needed to be, and back in the Sonata that I have missed driving. I would recommend them for sure if you are in the market for a Huyndai.

If I could give negative stars, I would. This awful place has had my car for over 3 months and has awful customer service. M engine needed to.be replaced and they told me a maximum of 5 weeks. We are pushing 14 weeks. They keep telling me it will be done today and have been for the past week and a half. They dont communicate at all and didnt even give me a rental while I waited for them to fix their own freaking mistakes. I am sick of this place and no one should ever take their car here. Slow, unhelpful service that doesnt even get done! I'm about ready to blow my top.

I just stopped in randomly after a haircut while I was in Richmond without an appointment for some assistance. With the sudden temperature changes, a few lights on the dash of my car keep lighting up and the service team here was ready to help and even washed my car! This is by far the most helpful dealership I have ever dealt with!

We've use this service department every since we bought our Santa Fe 2 1/2 years ago. We live in Lexington the dealership is in Richmond. They send someone to my wife's work when she worked in Lexington leave her a vehicle then service our vehicle and return it all on the same day. My wife now works in Georgetown and nothing has changed they send a man to her workplace pick her vehicle up take it back to Richmond complete the repairs and return it all in the same day. Great service excellent repairs always a smile on their face I give this dealership service department five stars.

Gates Hyundai has treated me great the few times I've taken my vehicle to them. I first used them because my original dealer, Hyundai of Nicholasville provided terrible service in every way and ignored me when I asked them to look at what appeared to be rust spots in the paint of my new Accent. After giving up on Hyundai of Nicholasville (after months of the run-around or completely ignoring me), Gates Hyundai quickly figured out that it was rail dust.
They gave me a loaner car and within a couple of days the problem was fixed. Most recently I took my car in for a synthetic oil change for a reasonable price of $60. They also inspected the vehicle, investigated a strange noise, and washed the car for free. I barely had time to drink the free water and eat the free chips in the waiting room before I was out of there. The whole thing probably took 25 minutes.

I purchased my second Hyundai from Gates in August 2014 and was very pleased with the whole purchasing process. I compared prices with other dealers and got about the same price at each dealer, within a couple of hundred dollars. Gates was $137 over the cheapest offer and the last dealer I shopped; but the staff was far more enjoyable to deal with and got me a better interest rate.
After the purchase I started to use their service department for both of our Hyundai cars. I had one communication break down and it was resolved quickly. They have provided great service and repairs for my cars for over 2 years. I would recommend them over other central Kentucky dealers for sales and service.

On Febraury 14, 2015 I arrived at aprox 12:10 pm. This time I did in-fact test drive a vehicle. After a short drive I ask the salesman what could he do to make me take it home. I was in-fact sold on the car, even though he knew very little about the car I knew more about that it than he did, nonetheless we started negotiations. He had our trade looked at.
We stated what we wanted in the deal. He came back with basically nothing we ask for in-fact $1000.00 less for our trade which I will say was a little shocking since we was asking about $2000.00 less than (as they say) "blue book" value, however we accepted that but sent him back to the table as it were. He came back in a few min and stated the deal, we declined it and very politely got up and stated that was ok, just give back our keys and shook his hand and was going to leave.
He stated he would go get the keys, we stepped out into the main showroom. Waiting, patiently, He returned with a "new deal" we were still about a $1000.00 between where the dealership was and where we wanted to be. We calmly stated no thank you, our keys please. With that he shook his head to someone behind the glass wall. All of a sudden (who I later found out was ) Mr. Abston the used car manager. Came rushing out of his office as soon as he entered the showroom (with other clients there) he yelled "So that's the way it's going to be" then he stated ( before we could answer not to mention we both were in shock) " So you are trying to strong arm me" then proceeded to follow us to our car yelling at us ALL the way.
Upon arriving at our car he started beating his fist on the hood of my car. Then we were barely in our vehicle when he started beating his fist on my windshield all this time he was screaming at us. I looked at the clock it was 12:50. Not even there 45 min. Before I backed out of the parking space I rolled down the right window and informed him in a calm voice " Sir you are being rude" he never stopped screaming. Was still screaming as we drove off.
I don't know about you but if someone is beating on my car and yelling at me. I do not get out and give the money for using fear and intimidation. I love the car in question. But we simply just could not come to terms on price. Should have been no big deal right. For over 30 years I have purchased new and used vehicles and not one time have I ever dealt with someone that acted like this.
I have a few times not bought a vehicle because we just could not agree on the price. Again no big deal. Make no mistake I want nothing and not at all upset about the price or the negotiations at all however I am extremely upset that my brother and myself had to deal with this type of abuse. As for myself I am handicapped on top of this with several issues as it were having nerve issues this was even more upsetting to me.
I have to wonder, does this jerk do this to everyone that does not agree with him? Does he use intimidation on 70 year old ladies? To boot the next day I looked on your website the car was listed online (yes I know online prices are different)at just shy of $100 LESS than we offered. Thank you for your time!

Wonderful experience at Gates Hyundai! Buddy Rue was friendly and easy to talk to- not pushy like you find at some car dealerships. He easily answered all of our questions and allowed us plenty of time to make our decision. When it came time to sign the paperwork, the rest of the staff was also friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Really the hardest part of the whole process was picking out the color of the car we wanted! I would definitely recommend Gates Hyundai to anyone looking to buy a car! Super service! Love my 2014 Elantra!

I bought my first Sonata at Gates Hyundai Richmond KY. Upon the purchase the agreement was that the down payment would be "rolled into" the trade in of my other vehicle. As many of us know, when you're signing all of the papers to purchase a vehicle, the finance manager knows what to do and how to distract you. Well, after all was said and done, after I received numerous phone calls from Curtis Ream on my personal phone and AT MY WORK, he threatened to sue me for a down payment on this car.
I endured this for 6 months until he threatened me, realizing then, that by fighting this in court would only cost me more. I will never purchase another vehicle from any Gates owned business and I recommend anyone reading this thinks twice about taking their business here. They are clearly not business men, you cannot trust them nor their word. Crooks is putting it nicely!
