For over 20 years now, no one else works on my 1995 318ic other than Jack and his team. Not only is he an expert BMW mechanic, but I find him frank, fair, and very mindful of costs. Someone hit my car recently and (after the body work) Jack worked his mechanical magic as he always does -- runs like new, though well over 200,000 miles on the car. If you are within 10 miles of his Van Nuys shop, my only question is "why take your BMW anywhere else for repair?" Thanks, Jack!

After stressing over a voltage issue/ charging system malfunction on my e46. I looked endlessly for a repair shop, since the prior mechanic that repaired my car prior to this issue was incompetent and gave me a faulty promise. Let me just say jack and his crew are on another level when it comes to BMW's. Not only was the service phenomenal, but I got educated on servicing and different components with my car.
Also pointed out a few other issues that needed addressing that might be an issue in the future. So here's the back story, after having transmission and a starter replacement from a different repair shop, I started having voltage issues with my car. My car was not charging appropriately and left me stranded on the highway ( terrifying feeling when your alternator dies on the highway in the rain).
I found his shop and gave him a call the next morning and had it towed there. One thing I look for when it comes to any type of repairs is having a proper diagnostic, and a variety of solutions on how to address the problem. Jack did all that. He broke it down to me and said exactly what he would do to figure out the issue. Turns out my alternator was faulty. but wait there's more the idiot that replaced my starter prior to taking it here didn't connect the cable to the alternator, hence the discharge causing my alternator to burn out.
I seriously cannot thank you enough for the help and advice brotha. Honest and upfront shop. I will be taking my car here for maintenance from now on. Thanks again Jack & Team

Jack's shop is located off a dusty part of Victory Blvd. in Van Nuys - but was well worth the trip. I read other prior reviews with some concern, but was recommended Jack's shop from an old school BMW enthusiast I trust. My visit with Jack involved a simple repair; I was in and out in 24 hours without fuss and under his estimate range. We spoke at length about different BMW cars, their heritages and his opinion regarding their idiocracies.
I found this very refreshing, whereas others might find it distracting. I would definitely go back to Jack again. I found his spontaneous interest & advice to positive & unique. Any long-term owner who can venture to Van Nuys should give him a try. I'm very happy I did.

Jack is the "go to" guy for vintage BMW's. About the only guy who can properly set up a 2002tii mechanical fuel injection system. Great source for rebuilt transmissions and differentials, and for rational performance upgrades like suspensions. Don't be put off by the shop's appearance or neighborhood. You're there for Jack's expertise.

Got sold so many unnecessary things for my BMW. First, the owner would make every other shop stupid, by sayings things like: Jify-Monkeys and other monkeys don't know what to do, later he would suggest you to replace every part possible on your BMW, and of course all genuine overpriced parts and extra expensive labor because of superiority of this shop, plus he will teach you lots of unnecessary information that he believes in, like: this brand of gasoline is better than other, then you will get fat bill to pay. Be aware of this place. Take your car for a second opinion somewhere else and please do your own research after he tells you what to do.

An authority on the BMW 2002 model (boxy model, not year), Jack and his associate are also highly qualified no-bull BMW mechanics who will work with you on keeping your vehicle in proper working condition and stand by their work. They did my way too complicated transmission rebuild and recently replaced the "guaranteed to blow" BMW expansion tank for coolant. If you want the cheapest you can go to under-qualified mechanics, if you want the list price go to the dealer.

Jack is a stand-up guy and does GREAT work. He will do everything he can to keep your service work at a minimum. "If you don't need it, he wont do it." I was taking my '74 2002 to another shop here in Thousand Oaks, but they were shafting me right and left. I had enough, I heard about Jack through a BMW 2002 fan site. These people WERE NOR wrong at all. He has my business from here on out. Great work at a great price and has a great attitude.

I've stopped using Jack. The last time I went there I brought a list of things I needed done or checked and additionally told him of a few other items that I may hold off on depending on what the price would for the main repairs. I never heard back from him until my car was done. (!) I was given no quote on the work. Just a call that the work was complete and a bill.
I was sold a new radiator even though I felt I just had a leaky coolant hose. That leaky hose, later reveled itself when my head gasket blew. All the work I told him I may skip depending on all the labor costs of hte other work was completed as well. I left the shop with a bill totally over 1k when I expected perhaps 100 or more for labor and hose replacement. Admittedly there some things I did wrong with the transaction.
I was not forceful enough in my stance that I did NOT in fact need a new radiator. I dont know how many times I told him the car was running hot when I noticed that the coolant level was low. I felt that he just wouldn't hear that. I should have just refused to pay having not gotten a written quote and complained about the blown head gasket to him a couple months later. But, I've moved on. I've found a new service station that I feel is honest, fast, cheaper and just as competent to work on my car.
All this said, I feel that Jack is a competent mechanic. I just feel he is too opinionated and crotchety for his own good. Perhaps he lacks some customer service skills. Its a shame really. I don't feel he listened, he just dictated. If you think that your car is having a problem because of A instead of B it is important that you are VERY CLEAR what you expect done. Don't get sold something you don't need. I've appreciated Jacks help in the past but after my last transaction with him, He's lost me as a customer.
