I'm Stu Carpenter and I established Copley Motorcars in 1995. I had been working for other luxury and sportscar dealers in Boston since 1986 and had become disenchanted with how these dealerships were being operated. The sales games were the rule of the day. As the owner and operator of Copley Motorcars, my approach to what is usually a difficult process for both dealer and customer is simple: offer an exceptional product, price it correctly, and make the transaction as easy and enjoyable as possible.
I'm Adam Check and I have an unwavering passion for Land Rovers. This began during my childhood with a succession of Range Rovers and Discoverys in our family and grew as I was exposed to the different Series and Defender models via the regional Land Rover enthusiasts' club during the late 90's. My peers had posters of athletes on their bedroom walls; mine were adorned with NAS Defender 90s.
We've an interesting, some would say eclectic, mix of classic cars always on offer and we find something to love about each and every one. Odds are, if you are visiting our website, you love them too. And because Copley Motorcars is a smallish "boutique" type dealer, our classic cars don't necessarily run out the door.
We are always looking worldwide for classic cars for our inventory. As you can see from our offerings, we are particularly fond of Land Rover, Ferrari, Mercedes Benz and Porsche. If you have an exceptional example of one of these makes, please e-mail us a few details and photos and we will discuss how to purchase your classic car.

If I could leave 10 stars I would. Where should I begin? First off, Adam is an amazing rep and values the customers time, which is rare. The whole experience from when I arrived for a test drive was perfect. Adam allowed me to test the car as I wanted and was there to answer questions and guidance. I'm no expert but I know enough to realize I got a very good deal on a tremendous car.
I highly recommend Copley especially when the popular auction sites get a buyers fee on top of the final amount. There really are good and great deals to be found here on high quality cars that are very hard to find. Best car purchasing experience I've ever had.

I contacted Adam Check to discuss purchasing a 1998 Porsche C2S, I tried calling to speak with someone and ended up leaving a voicemail containing my phone number and email, I quickly received an email response. After exchanging emails, discussing my plans for a PPI, I was told that I needed to get the deal done within the same week (this was Tuesday) and it would be best if I had my PPI done by "their guy".
Maybe this person is reputable, but I couldn't find any information about this person or their associated business. As you can imagine, I would not purchase a car inspected by someone I don't know. I stated that I would need a reputable dealer (Porsche Dealer nearby) to perform the PPI, leak-down test, etc. At first I was being pressured to get the deal done "this week" and that waiting 2 weeks for a PPI at a dealer wouldn't be acceptable, then shortly afterwards a PPI through my own party was acceptable.
I made an offer on the vehicle which I was clearly told had been accepted. After accepting my offer, I began to start making arrangements for a PPI and began planning to fly up to visit the dealer, inspect the car and meet the Porsche dealer before/after their PPI. All of which was going to be done within a reasonable amount of time. 5 hours after confirming my offer had been accepted, I receive an email that a better offer had been accepted and the sale would close this week, the reasoning I was given was that I failed to supply information for their sales agreement (no information had been requested since my offer was accepted). This was my experience with Copley Motorcars and Adam Check. Proceed with caution.

Very professional and high-end business more akin to a jewelry store than a "car dealer". Incredible selection of vintage and special cars including Ferrari, Mercedes Benz, Land Rover, Porsche, and others. Extremely knowledgeable staff can get very busy so I'd recommend making an appointment. Adam is fantastic to work with and knows his stuff.

Copley motorcars has been around for 25 years. They have phenomenal inventory exotics to rare classics. Stu Carpenter and his wife Caren are awesome people and support the local neighborhood and local business. Stu has has an excellent memory I contacted him back in 2016. My family was looking for a certain a white Mercedes S class sedan to be similar to my grandfather's car from 60's to 70's.
Since then I've gone to events Stu & Caren have put on locals of Needham Massachusetts. This past year, Stu got in his inventory an S-Class coupe. He contacted me and set it up to have surprise test drive for my father on his birthday. Stu went out of his and let us take the car for the day. Stu made memory for my family that we will never forget. Took my father to blast in the past, when he was child and his father was alive. Stu has extreme knowledge of automobiles but his passion is even larger. This is the guy to find a car through.

I decided to purchase a slightly used Mercedes coupe from this "boutique" car dealership and had my concerns that it was not your standard car dealer. Sort of a "buyer beware" situation with no guarantee or at least typical 30 day "peace of mind" period. The car I was interested in would have been typically bought from one of these "standard" used car or Mercedes dealerships, or via private sale.
They had the exact car I was looking for, not rare, but not easy to locate locally. The the majority of other cars on the site were vintage or unique in their own way. including literally a Bat Mobile that they recently acquired. In any case, the experience was one of, if not the best car buying experience I have had in 40 years. Adam first - and then Stu (owner) could not have been easier to deal with or more straightforward.
They accepted my offer (reasonable, but far from top of the chart in market value) and the whole process took 1 easy conversation and 1 day. The car, much to my delight after having put it through both MA State inspection and Mercedes dealer review and "maintenance A" process, passed with flying colors! No hidden issues or surprises to make me regret my decision to purchase this high end luxury car from such an eclectic and unique group and car dealer. I rate my experience (and the car) with 5 shining stars. Thank you Copley Motorcars!

I have worked with Stewart for years now, he can find you any vehicle you are looking for. he sells anything from million dollar cars to 20K vehicles. He has a great variety of cars and easy to work with and always email in a timely matter. Check out his website and possibly buy yourself a Christmas gift! 5 star rating.

I was looking to buy another Land Rover for a hobby vehicle so I stopped by and sent my kids across the street to bowl while I looked around. I figured it would take me a hour. I pulled in with my Range rover and walked around to vehicles then stepped inside the showroom. The guys there totally ignored me to the point where I felt unwanted there. I left, drove away and joined my kids for bowling. It's puzzling. If you only want to sell cars to your high net worth friends, why have a store? I guess they need somewhere to get away from their families.

I drive by here at least once a week during my commute, and I'm always fascinated with some of the things they have laying around. They seem to specialize in only antique and classic cars, as I've never seen anything less then 20 or so years old on their lot. Always have a couple Ferraris, Porsches, Rolls, etc. Nicer examples are kept inside, while there is a small selection out front to browse. I've stopped in a few times to take a look when a particular item caught my eye. Prices are MUCH higher then what you'd expect, and I mean much as in 5 figure markups. Haven't seen a service department on site, but it could just be down the street or behind back. Getting some attention from the one or two salesman is difficult at best, but usually impossible (always on phone, talking to other people, etc).
They seems nice enough, but then again, who isn't when they're trying to sell you something. Not sure I'd personally purchase from here unless they had a particular model I wanted and didn't mind getting hugely taken advantage of pricing wise.
