Reed DeHorsey has forgotten more about European automobiles than most people will ever know. After a lifetime of tinkering with motors in boats and cars, Reed set up shop on Aquidneck Island in 1983 and speedily gained a reputation as the go-to guy for foreign cars among the many people who drive them especially older ones around Newport, RI.

I made an appointment to have my car serviced. I show up promptly to a surprised looking person (who obviously knew I was coming by his comments) and said he couldn't do it today. Apparently, customers' time means nothing to these people. Many more professional places around town

I can Not say enough about Reed and his son! They are the most genuine, Honest, knowledgeable, super nice individuals I have ever met, with the patience of a saint! They always find time to fit me in and never make me feel like a pain even though I know I can be. They are very thorough, speedy and most importantly trustworthy. I highly recommend this family to anyone in need of repairs to their car!

Reed and company have taken care of my 2007 Jaguar XK convertible twice this year. I am so pleased to find someone right in town. Driving to the Jaguar dealer was inconvenient especially when many issues on a car this complex take more than a day and waiting for parts. And his prices are significantly below the dealer. He has done everything from determining why it wouldn't start reliably although the battery was new to replacing a broken aerial and burned out brake light. Also got the convertible top opening properly so the summer was top down fun. Definitely recommend them.

Reed and his crew are old school professional people who simply know how to get the job done. I normally bring my car to the dealer but have found that Reed can get the job done for a much better price and on top of that is simply a nice person. I highly recommend Aquidneck Motors! Cracked my valve cover on my 1968 Mercedes Benz 200D. completely destroyed my car and I paid to have injector nozzle tips put in $200 bucks. now the job is being redone and we are questioning if he even put in the 4 nozzles. Injectors are really bad and in need of complete rebuild. thanks for absolutely nothing. now ignoring me and my calls. Also flipped out on me when I asked to keep my original valve cover he cracked and welded without my permission, after noticing this on my own, after paying my bill, I went back and made him replaced it with a used part but he got very angry when I asked for original part and would not give me a receipt for the work done at his shop. Maybe because he did none? Now will not answer calls and is always out of the shop when I call! Thanks

This place is a scam offers good deals on cars that have major issues and say they have a warranty but it has to go through them.

I have been bringing my cars to Reed at Aquidneck Motors for more than a year now and have been impressed with his ability to diagnose and repair even the most challenging problems. I own a previously salvaged VW Eurovan that came with a laundry list of reasons why it couldn't pass the RI State safety inspection. He got everything taken care of and it passed inspection.

The best part is it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Most recently, I had an illusive vacuum leak and the cracked breather hose was no longer available. He was able to repair the old part and now I'm back on the road.

I have used Aquidneck Motors twice now for my Audi A6. They specialize in foreign cars and do a great job and charge a fair price. I'm used to paying through the nose at the dealerships and found this shop has all the technology the Audi dealerships have. I needed a to replace my thermostat and I checked with 2 Audi dealerships and got prices of $881 and $1000-$1200. Aquidneck was $700. I recommend them.

I was in Newport for a convention when my car needed a pretty major repair. The service I received was outstanding. My car was fixed quickly and for a fair price. The owner was personable and helpful. Happening upon this shop helped to make a bad situation much, much better. I highly recommend using them.
