"We'll boys looks like I sent it a little to hard!" It took a lot of effort to find all the issues. Kakoa, Kalena and Harley all worked with me and the Tec to fix my truck. I never felt in the dark as to what they found and the work done was right. Good to have a honest mechanic. Thanks BIT and team

Came in for my scheduled 9:00am appointment for an oil change. Was told around 11:00am that my car hasn't even been pulled in the service bay yet and would still have to wait another 20 minutes for them to pull my car in the service bay. What's the point of scheduling for 9:00am if you still wouldn't service my car after 11:00am?

Randy was wonderful, the experience was so smooth, very transparent and stress free. We had a few negative experience with other dealers where there is a lot of wheeling and dealing and wearing you down, but at Big Island Toyota they sell at msrp, are very honest and I appreciate that so much. If you go, ask for Randy, he is so very nice and will help you!

Very Poor customer service. Ask one of the customer service, and someone jump in that is talking to other customer too on the phone. Very unprofessional. Went to have my car service and it took more than 4 hours, and when I asked how long more does it take, they don't give me an answer. Check in early only to find out that the other customer who did their service later than me finish their service before me.

Toyota makes a great product but BIT and good customer service is something To be desired. They have had our vehicle for going on 3 weeks and when we called to find out what's happening they informed us they were still waiting for the parts and had no idea when those might be coming in. We asked if we could get a loaner vehicle but we're told that Big Island Toyota (part of SERVCO) doesn't do that, the best they could do was offer a rental for one day and pay for that but if we kept the rental car longer we would have to pay for it ourselves. That's what Kekoa the service manager I'm guessing told us.
We have bought two vehicles from BIT, paid cash and this is what we get? Did I mention my parents are elderly and can't get around too well and have several Dr's appointments each month that has been a struggle to coordinate and get to since the loss of the vehicle. It was a rude awakening for us and one that left a bitter taste in our mouths. Hawaii loves monopolies like this, SERVCO is the only Toyota dealer in the state and the customer service is sub par at best with our experience.
I personally will never recommend or buy another vehicle from a Toyota dealer in Hawaii. I will go mainland and ship it back. On a side note I've owned Mercedes' and BMW and Ford and never had that happen when I brought my car in for service. I was always offered a loaner Even at FORD if the service was going to be longer than 4 hours. Hope the next elderly couple in the same situation doesn't have our same experience. GREAT NEWS! It's now 2 days after we called to try and get A car from Big Island Toyota as a loaner while they had our Prius for repair. Got a call from Hertz Rent-A-Car saying they had a vehicle for us to use for one week per big island Toyotas instructions?
No one from Big Island Toyota called us to say that they were going to do this for us, so I wasn't sure it was true or what the details were. Gentleman by the name of Dean at Hertz was very helpful, after I explained the situation and experience we had a couple days ago with Toyota and Toyota telling us to go rent a car on our own and that we had to pay for it on our own. Dean at Hertz informed me he would call service manager Kekoa and verify the information.
About an hour later Dean called Back and told us he had confirmed with Big Island Toyota That a vehicle would be available for us. The shocking news was Dean telling us the Big Island Toyota had offered to pay for a month of the rental for us while we wait for our car to be repaired. We were very happy to hear the news and are appreciative of the vehicle to use. Thank you for doing the right thing even if it took 2 additional days.

Reached out via chat yesterday about a Tacoma got immediate responses and went in to see about getting a my hands on one. They had one in the lot and drove it today! Very simple process and you don't have to deal with these horrible mark ups like you do at other dealerships. True pricing and true customer service! Thank you Bog Island Toyota you will have a returning customer when it comes to upgrading our other car!

We had an oil change, and noticed an oil leak under the truck after we had it parked at home. Called for an appointment and showed up five minutes early; we were told it would be at least 20 minutes to be seen since everyone was at lunch (not sure why they'd schedule an appointment during lunch). An hour later, our truck still hadn't been looked at by a technician. We asked for the service manager and were told he'd find us; after waiting another 20 minutes, still no service manager or truck. We will NEVER return here again.

Brought my 2015 Chevy Sonic in for tcb switch replacement and new fan installion, lived in hilo for 27 years Worst experience I've had! Picked up my car told it was done, passing puainako my thermostat and engine light came on and noticed smoke from engine. Had it towed back to de luz Chevy & big island Toyota. The problem was found and the manager Kekoa informed me the technician installed my fan backwards and my tcb switch was not in place. I snapped at Kekoa told him I paid $1369 for this service you Guys should be ASHAMED. BIG ISLAND TOYOTA IS A FAILURE & WILL NOT EVER RECOMMEND YOU LAMES

Incredibly poor customer service! I contacted the service department to schedule an appointment. I asked the representative for an estimated price of service and she stated everyone was trying to get off work. I called in 45 minutes before they closed and it should have taken no more than a few minutes to schedule me. Without any explanation she put me on hold for voicemail. I absolutely do not recommend Big Island Toyota service department due to how badly they treat their customers.

After a recall for a fuel pump, i noticed a plastic skid plate hanging from underneath my Tacoma. I called a few times and the service department passed me on to the scheduling department, then got passed on to the parts department and finally was told to call the service manager Kekoa and leave a message if he didn't answer. Left a message and 3 days later still no reply.
I went in person to Toyota to tell them about the 3 missing nuts from the skid plate and was told they could schedule me then or in 2 weeks. So I gave them my keys and was told it should be only about an hour. It has been 2-1/2 hours and I am still waiting outside of the Big Island Toyota service center. It's not a big issue since it's only 3 nuts that need to be replaced and tightened.
Just glad that the mechanic didn't forget to tighten my tire or something more important. Heads up to anyone after getting a repair or service job as it is hard to get them to fix mistakes in a timely matter.

So here's an update of the used vehicle I bought from big island Toyota. About 2 months ago the heat sensor that connects between the engine block and radiator failed. Cost me over $500 to fix and the vehicle was inoperable for several weeks. This month the trunk latch and/or the wiring malfunctioned, meaning I can't open the trunk at all.
I made an appointment but was informed it would be about 2 weeks till they could look at it. The apt finally came, they looked at it and said they have to fix the wiring and the latch I believe. The only appointment available to fix it is in another two weeks. The hood still shakes a lot which I was told by another mechanic it could be the bolts securing the engine to the frame of the vehicle, however to know for sure I'd have to pay several hundred dollars, just for the evaluation, because when I brought it to Toyota they said it's normal and no issues, so I'll take their advice for now, hope for the best, and wonder who will be responsible when the engine shifts while I'm driving it someday.
I am wondering if they will let me schedule an appointment monthly to fix things, as so far it has been to the shop several times since I purchased it, takes several weeks to get appointments, and it has cost me over $1000 in repairs since I bought it. Thank god I paid $3000 for the extended warranty.

I received a recall mail for a body work. I called and left a message to make an appointment but no one called me back. I went the dealer and made an appointment with a customer service representative name Moniqe. She was very bossy but I just let it go. Today I came for my appointment and spoke to same person and said I came here for painting recall assessment.
She said she doesn't see my name and I am making a mistake. I told her she helped me and show her my phone calendar. She said she never helped me and I am wrong. I found a reservation card and asked if that is her hand writing. She said it is but it is my fault that I didn't say it is under body shop. She was keep yelling and said I didn't use right words.
I finally couldn't take that insult I told her I want to be helped by someone else. She continued yelling and told me I have to wait someone else help me. I told her fine and don't talk to me. I was helped by another lady who was professional and treated me with aloha. I have been here many years and own two Toyota cars. People work here are usually kind and helpful.
I am very sad that now they hired this woman who don't know how to treat people with respect. I hope she won't get more crazy after I leave my car here. I hope my car and my belongings are safe here at Toyota.

People only talk to you if you're going to buy a car. The dealer carries limited and only select models. Not much choice in colors either. The sales guy and sales manager will not give you a good deal and since there is no other Toyota competition they know they don't need to. The people in Hilo are held hostage and I feel sorry for them. Not recommended.

UPDATE: communication not getting better. In short, the appointment taker has failed to inform us of prerequisites for a safety check.now TWICE in a year. We've now gone out of our way and wasted our time twice. If you ship a vehicle to the island, make sure you have Hawaii insurance BEFORE doing the check (mainland insurance isn't accepted). Next, be prepared to get a "failed" safety check for having a mainland registration (can't get Hawaii registration without a safety check).
Proceed to the DMV to get a Hawaii registration, and then schedule another visit to go back and get the "passed" safety check. ORIGINAL: Everything was great for the few visits we made both at the Hilo and Kona location, until one of the repairs didn't resolve the issue (a different repair at the Kona location didn't resolve that issue either).
I replied to Rylan's text, the Hilo advisor, so I could see what the next steps should be, and no response. I left a voicemail for Rylan, and no response. I called and had a message taken for Rylan, and no return call. Currently trying to find a more reliable mechanic.

Process is time consuming with endurance warranty since this company chose smart auto care as provider to the claim of my car repair. I brought my car in early Monday and thought my car front hub bearing needed repair. My Monday appointment were set by Bryce nishihara. I brought in car before 7 am, check in and on my text said diagnostics would be $140. Bryce took my car in and mechanic told me there is a bent in the brake line.
So I waited in the service lounge area for Bryce nishihara to make contact with smart auto care. Smart auto care out of Texas said part had to come in from mainland and I could not use my own parts that were in the trunk, front hub Toyota bearings and seals. I could not wait any longer and a friend pick me up from customer waiting area since my work start at 8am.
The whole week I had to take a taxi to and from work. I find out the part came in Thursday and Friday morning service tech do the repair. Less than one day work turn out to one week without my car since Toyota service not open on the weekend. On top of that, Bryce told me I had to sign completed paperwork, so I need to get a taxi there after work and back home. Bryce told me it could be another day 24 hours for payment for their service. Bryce kept in good communication with me and answered all my questions by text message, and did the best he could to help me under the circumstance and situation placed upon him. Overall, very frustrating service dealing with smart auto care, Toyota service and endurance warranty. Endurance warranty giving me a hard time for me wanting to cancel the service contact agreement with them.
A simple one day work replacing just the front passenger side front wheel hub bearing turn out to be over a week. Taxi transportation adding up to my cost of not having my car to drive to and from work. Process could have more smoother and stress free but this whole experience turn out to very stressful and cannot highly recommend endurance warranty and smart auto care.

My husband said he had a 9am appt. and the manager on duty said "Oh that's just the check in time" NO DUDE that was the appt. time i made, cause you guys were WIDE OPEN for appt. time. Needless to say at that point we left and won't be back!

We worked with Leslie and she went above and beyond to help us. Before we even looked at the vehicle in person, we were able to work with Leslie via text message and begin the paperwork process. Leslie is very personable and wants to make sure you have picked the right vehicle for you. She made the entire car buying experience easy and pleasurable as sometimes it can be stressful. Leslie called us a week later to check in on us and see how we were liking the vehicle and we greatly appreciated the extra personal touch.
We also had an easy experience with the financing department which can also be a headache but this wasn't. Very thankful for the car buying experience at Big Island Toyota Hilo.

I took my car into BIG ISLAND TOYOTA SERVICE HILO for a 10:20 am appointment and was told it would take about 2 hours. I sat in their waiting room and at 1:30 asked if my car was almost done. I was told that they did not even work on the service yet because the boys had to eat lunch! What a stupid reason! Why make an appointment for 10:20 if you can't do it?
The service department has very poor management and the manager does not seem to care about customer service. This is the second time this happened to me. I told them to bring my car out and no need to service it! I left with the service light still on and I told them that I would never be back there again! I was looking into buying a 2020 Rav 4 but now.feel that I might look into getting a Honda instead. If you can't get good service at Toyota why bother?! Enid M

I received an urgent recall notice for airbags on my Toyota. I followed the directions for contacting my local dealer (who turned out to be B.I.T.) spoke with Crystal and got the shipment underway. I was told it would be 4-6 weeks at max. Almost 2 months later, still nothing. No one picks up the phone and the voice mail box is full. In the meantime I have a vehicle I am hesitant to drive, creating a hardship for my family. You remember that several fatalities were linked to these airbags, right Toyota?

Just picked up my long awaited 2020 RAV4 XSE and am loving everything about it! Bob was my sales guy and he did a great job making it all happen. If you're looking for a new Toyota, go see Bob. This was a special order with an almost 6 month wait time which is pretty standard for ordering Toyotas with the exact specifications you want. The vehicle comes all the way from Japan.
The purchase process was smooth, with minimal waiting. I took the RAV straight to the tint shop and Bob gave me a ride from there. Will definitely do business again. Toyotas are amazing, reliable and well made vehicles. Mahalo again BI Toyota Hilo and Bob!

I bought 3 cars from 3 different dealerships and Big Island Toyota was by far the best one. Our salesperson was Lesley and she really went the extra mile in helping us take home our brand new Toyota Tacoma. Not gonna lie when I say I was stressing out about going to a dealership but can't express how much we enjoyed going to Big Island Toyota

I always was told that this dealership was great and cheaper than servco in Honolulu even with shipping. Well here is what happened with me and this dealership. I called and spoke with a super friendly female employee told her what I wanted and she told me I would be getting a call from their sales manager 4 days later the manager calls ( by this time I gave up on them and found my truck at servco) he calls verifies what I wanted and tells me he will get back with me.
I already had a price from servco. I was curious to see if they would come back with a better deal. So to this day no call back. So either business is so good they didnt need my business or they have some connections at servco that they knew I had made a deal. Either way poor way to do business.

I called Big Island Toyota in Kona, where I purchased a 2018 Chevy Trax. At time of purchase I was told that they could do maintenance on the car in Kona. Because I have a problem with the brake electronics, I called BI Toyota in Kona yesterday, left a message, no call back. I called again today and was told that they can't help me in Kona, because they don't have a GM-trained technician. That is poor customer service.

This review was originally posted on Servco Honolulu (11/14/2012), probably a mistake on my part. Removed Content: I found the car i wanted on the Toyota website after comparing all of the hybrid and EV models on the market. I chose the Prius V Three and contacted Big Island Toyota to purchase the car. I did not know I would be purchasing the vehicle from Servco, the only way to get a Toyota in Hawaii.
I dropped $30,000 on a vehicle and expected it to have the basic features (NOT options) that Toyota advertises. After I purchased the vehicle and attempted to register for the Entune application I kept getting errors. I called Entune/Toyota and they eventually told me I'd need to speak to Servco. After I was transferred to Servco, a rep tells me that Entune (applications/iPhone interface) is not available in Hawaii. WTF?
I could understand an option such as XM radio not being available, but Entune is a feature of the vehicle, if not the car wouldn't have an APPS button. The one star was well earned as it is unlikely that I would consider purchasing any Toyota vehicle as a result. I would never recommend anyone support Big Island Toyota with their hard earned money and watch your backs with the Servco Pacific owned dealerships.

I just picked up my car at Big Island Toyota and I paid $97.40 for them to shampoo my carpet. They didn't even attempt to shampoo my carpet but charged me. When I brought the car back they said we used every machine to take out the stains but there is no stains I was worried about it was that I wanted my carpets cleaned. If you look at the pictures there is no way someone even vacuumed the carpet, let alone shampoo it. Do not go to Toyota Service center you will get ripped off!
