Motoring Investments performs restorations and service on classics, collectors, and vintage cars. Our specialty is in vintage Mercedes with a particular interest in the SL range produced from 1955 through 1989. We have a strong focus on the Mercedes Benz Pagoda, chassis prefix "W113" - also known as the 230SL, 250SL and 280SL. We regularly conduct business with worldwide clients; our main hub of operations is located in San Diego, Ca. Our team has a collective knowledge of classic cars that make other high-level servicing and restoration projects outside of the Mercedes Benz SL line possible.

Services
We offer showroom sales in San Diego, California where we specialize in especially original motorcars from the warm, dry, Southwestern United States. We can assist you with clearing that small, funny, foreign car from your barn to helping you build a world class automobile collection. We am always on the lookout for especially original, rust-free, low mileage cars.
While we are known around the world as a knowledgeable specialist in the W113 Pagoda Mercedes (230SL, 250SL & 280SL) we have a history with many vehicles, selling and consigning literally thousands since 1985. Our stock has been peppered with names from Abarth to Zagato and everything in between including Mercedes and Ferrari.
This begins a series where I'll explore some correctness and originality issues of the Pagoda or W113 cars. Let me state first that I'm not saying we should all only drive perfect specimens. There are some very good cars that while less than perfect may suit ones needs. It is just helpful to know the difference between various levels of authenticity.
We have a huge demand for quality collector cars. If you're thinking of selling, whether it's one car or a whole collection, we want to talk to you. We will help you evaluate your car and will either purchase it outright, or sell the car for you on a consignment basis. We accept select consignments based upon the quality and desirability of the car on offer. We also assist clients in the sale of partial or complete collections.

These guys are the real deal. I purchased my 250sl (running and a project car) from an independent dealer and Brian took the time to talk to me and give me some sound advice pre-purchase even though I wasn't purchasing through him. After I purchased it, I came to them and got a detailed assessment along with recommendations on where to start. I can say that this first phase of restoration exceeded expectations across the board.
The quote was fair, the work they did was outstanding, within budget and with no surprises. I highly recommend Motoring Investments - they are pros and the best in the business when it comes to these classics!

I bought a Mercedes 280sl awhile ago from this dealer, and the first time I took it out in the rain after owning it for 2 weeks, it leaked badly from the hard top. Interestingly, it wasn't even raining that hard. I spoke with the owner and he claimed it never leaked on him. I find that difficult to believe since he washed the car at least once and it would have for sure leaked then.
He said he wasn't responsible for fixing the hard top and that the car was sold as is. How in the world is the buyer to know if a car leaks from the roof if the seller doesn't tell you? Pretty unscrupulous.
