I had been looking for a compact pickup truck for some time when I happened to stop by JJ's Used Cars. The market is really tough right now (February 2022) for used trucks, and it had been a little bit of a struggle to find what I needed. I don't normally like buying vehicles from dealers - I've had some lousy experiences in the past. Not so with with Jason and the rest of the staff at JJ's.
No hassle, no pressure, no up-sells, no surprises - just genuinely good guys selling clean cars at fair prices. We were able to negotiate a good deal on my truck, plus a topper to go with it, which they installed for me. It was helpful to have the CarFax available, and they were transparent and efficient throughout the buying process. It feels good to support a local business that's been around for decades, too. I'll plan stop by again when I need another vehicle in the future. Definitely check them out.

Just got a 2011 Jeep Patriot from Jason, amazing service! He emailed with me for a week discussing the payments, down payment, and walking me through everything I would need. Carfax report was linked to the online posting, so was able to do a little research. Very friendly and worked with me so I could afford the down payment as my old car broke down and I had no vehicle. Will definitely recommend to friends!

My husband and I looked at a 2012 Cadillac Escalade ESV, which seemed reasonably priced, at $15,995. Inside everything looked good and was in good condition. So we were excited to test drive it. We asked them if it would be okay to take it to our mechanic to have a once over on it. Which they were fine with. OK. We proceeded to take the vehicle over to Crawford's Auto ( which by the way if you are looking for a good honest mechanic take it to Chase at Crawford's Auto) Chase inspected the vehicle, while we were there the check engine light came on after we had shut the vehicle off and started it a couple times, we believe JJs auto cleared the codes on the vehicle.
Normally it takes a few times of turning the vehicle on or so many miles driven after the codes are cleared for them to show again. Which if your trying to sell a vehicle in dishonesty then you wouldn't expect the people test driving it to shut it off so many times like we had. Once we checked the codes we found out there was oil pressure sensing unit, some emissions, and quite a lot of other codes and was going to be an expensive fix.
We brought a print out of the codes to JJs and proceeded to explain that there was a lot of work needed to be done but if they could take the amount of cost to fix it off the price of the vehicle that we would have still bought it but he wasn't willing to do so. They were quite rude to us when we told them about all the repairs needing to be done they pretty much laughed in our faces.
One thing I remind any used vehicle buyer to ALWAYS HAVE THE RIG OF INTEREST INDEPENDENTLY INSPECTED BEFORE BUYING. Even if you're thorough on the lot yourself. If you want to be ripped off on a vehicle then I suggest JJs would be the right place to have that done. I would not recommend anyone purchasing a vehicle from JJs. But that is just my opinion.

I looked at a Ford Explorer here priced about $1200 over Kelly Blue Book, but forgivably consistent with regional market rate. It was immaculate inside and pretty good outside and the carfax was squeaky. it needed new tires, old rig; OK. Full disclosure, i was excited about this vehicle. Salesperson i spoke to was low/no pressure, almost aloof, but easygoing about my test driving the vehicle as well as having it inspected by an impartial third party mechanic.
This is why this is a 2 star review, instead of 1. The third party inspection revealed $3000 (including the expected mid-grade tires and labor) worth of pretty critical work needing to be done to a vehicle JJ's had listed at $4995. This nearly doubles the actual cost of the vehicle. One of the critical components needing repair was a cracked coil on the rear passenger side strut, as well as a severe leak from the rear differential (this generation of fords alas notorious for transmission issues but not leaking). IF JJ's HAD INSPECTED this vehicle (he said they had a little work done on it, i could indeed identify new components under the hood) these issues would certainly have been noted and IF they KNEW of these issues and still tried to sell it at the price they were asking, shame on them. i would tell you to steer clear. IF JJ's HAD NOT INSPECTED this vehicle thoroughly, it is simply irresponsible on their part and I would remind any used vehicle buyer to ALWAYS HAVE THE RIG OF INTEREST INDEPENDENTLY INSPECTED BEFORE BUYING.
Even if you're thorough on the lot yourself. I cannot accuse JJ's of malice, but come on! They were ready to sell a (deceptively.?) good-looking rig with major damage to major components. I will not be looking on their lot again. Roemer's on Broadway does Used Vehicle Pre-Purchase Inspections for about $80 and is my mechanic of choice for most incidentals because they are friendly honest and fast. Midas on Orange does it for $37, they're good at squeezing you in, and they're open Saturdays.

I've been eyeballing this sweet little Dodge Ram number from The Source window the past few months. Last week, I finally just said "I want it, I'm going to get it." Pulled into the lot and got out to look at it, and the mileage on the truck is HIGHER than the website by about 3k miles. No big deal, I'll ask about it. Salesman comes out and asks if we've got any questions, to which the conversation goes something like this: Me: "How long has this truck been on the lot?" He stares at me blankly for about 10 seconds then acts like i'm an idiot, Him: "Why!
How would I know that, I've got 140 cars on my lot, we have no way of knowing. I don't know how long it's been here." I was kind of surprised at his rude attitude I'm from Hawaii, salesmen have always been way OVERLY friendly and helpful to find information and sell you something as soon as they could. I said "oh.ok" and he said "if you have any more questions just ask" and walks off!
I like salesmen in general, I want an item and someones' got to sell it to me! BUT if they get defensive and can't answer a simple question about an item I had cash in hand for? I wonder what they've got to hide on that lot. I don't trust this dealership. One star to them for making me take my business elsewhere. Thanks JJ's!
